The Inaugural Warrior’s Picnic was a Night to Remember

Josh Grider, Jamie Floyd and Tom McElvain.

Operation Song® and Frontline Healing Foundation conducted the inaugural Warrior Picnic Fundraiser in Boerne, Texas, an evening celebration of family, community, and life. The event is a continuation of the partnership with Warriors Heart in Bandera, Texas and was attended by more than 200 people. Operation Song® and Frontline Healing Foundation each shared their missions with attendees followed by entertainment from our own pool of songwriters, Josh Grider, Jamie Floyd, and Tom McElvain. All three were incredible and performed songs they’ve written during Operation Song® programs. Needless to say, there were not many dry eyes.

We also had a Bob Regan sighting that night! Bob wrote “Cry of The Wounded” with Army veteran Tom Spooner (Co-Founder of Warriors Heart), and performed the song live at the event. Gold Star Mother, Nanette West, was also in attendance. Nanette’s song, “My Hero, My Soldier, My Son” is one of our favorites, and is an incredible tribute to her, and her son, 1LT Kile G. West, who was killed in Iraq on Memorial Day 2007. The music was followed by a successful live, and silent auction, and the evening was capped off with a performance from Dallas Alexander, a Canadian Soldier who served as a sniper in the middle-east.

The event was held outdoors at Dog & Pony Grill, located at 1481 S. Main St. in Boerne, Texas. If you missed this incredible night, you’ll have a chance to attend next year. Keep an eye out on our page as well as Frontline Healing Foundation’s.
